The Yorkshire Derwent starts its life on Fylingdale moors in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, The first club to have water on the river Derwent is the Derwent Anglers Club, formed in 1839 it is one of the oldest clubs in the country. The stretch of Derwent that the Derwent Anglers Club control runs from Waters Meet where the river joins Low North Beck to the weir at East Ayton at the southern end of Forge Valley.
The club had a waiting list to join but I understand that the Derwent Anglers are more flexible and you can join if the membership isn't too high, call the Hon Secretary Mr Graham Pawson on
