River Dearne Maps

Storrs Mill to Little Houghton

This stretch runs through farmland anyone wanting to fish it on a regular basis should give the contact the farmer for permission to fish.

Moreover, the fishing on this stretch by myself has been trotting with a nice light 13-foot match rod and stick float. I’ve fished it moving on from Storrs Mill Wood at the Cudworth end down to the big weir at Little Houghton. Gudgeon dace perch were the order of the day. Access is at Edderthorpe lane or Little Houghton Weir.

If anyone has fished it please let me know also any more info for river Dearne maps page.

Cudworth to Little Houghton weir [storrs mill wood] 53.551221, -1.375265 This stretch of the river is through farmland. I have walked with a trotting rod many times from Storrs mill wood through to Darfield. I have seen the farmer but only got a wave. But I\'m sure he wouldn\'t like lots of anglers pegging down for days without asking permission. I walk right bank trotting and moving on had gudgeon dace and perch, The left bank runs past the RSPB lake no fishing in there. From there it goes past ASOS then up to a private dwelling. Above the weir at Little Houghton is where to fish are. But fishing this long stretch is a great way to pass a day trotting and moving on. there are no pegs and it is featureless in places but you never know it may through a surprise up one day. Halfway along the stretch is an old cattle bridge with the timbers long gone its deep here. The bridge takes some finding as its overgrown and it\'s easier to take the shortcut and miss it out completely. I think the farm that owns the land may be Cravens farm, Edderthorpe Lane, If anyone wants to fish this on a regular basis it may be better to ring and ask permission.Darfield England, United Kingdom (Directions)
