River Swale Myton revisit
It’s July and it’s early coarse season on the rivers so when you have fished rivers for years like me you tend not to expect too much from them early on and in early July the Swale Didn’t disappoint. We that Darren and myself fished a couple of pegs that I knew held chub and I had also had Barbel from them.First cast a nice chub about 3 pounds then a couple of smaller fish about half a pound each, all on home made luncheon meat, Darren was fishing maggot in the feeder and he was rewarded with a bite every cast minnows dace small chub perch and a few bigger perch.
I missed a huge bite I felt it on and off in a second then the swim went dead so time for a move to another swim that I prebaited with a few free offerings earlier in the day I sat there biteless while in the next peg sat Darren with his maggot and feeder approach pulling in one after another of small fish from minnow perch gudgeon dace he was enjoying his day but my big fish or bust approach was looking more like bust with just the 3 pound chub to save my blushes.
But not all was lost it was Darren’s first visit to fish a river and he loved it so much he is now a convert, so well done pal, and the river Swale at Myton has to be one of the most picturesque rivers in the country and at £5 a day is worth every penny. see the map for full details.
